The Master Plan
How it all got started
In early 2013, the City of Hattiesburg made an important decision; it authorized the development of a future land use plan for Twin Forks Rising (TFR). This plan provides the foundation for community-founded and meaningful improvements in Ward 2.
After listening to the aspirations and desires of residents and coming to grips with the challenges that face TFR, the planning team developed a series of future land use options. A consensus was achieved and the preferred plan was agreed to by both the working group and the general public.
The Master Plan for Twin Forks Rising was adopted by the City Council of Hattiesburg. You can review a copy here. We are methodically taking down the critical components of the Master Plan through our Programs.
We work with Developers.
Realizing any vision requires partners. Our organization enjoys the broad support of the City of Hattiesburg, which assists us with our development plan. TFR CDC is actively seeking partnership with local developers who see the promise of Ward 2 the same way we do. We are seeking long term development partners, who are aligned with our values of community participation in the job creation and wealth building opportunities.
Community Members, we need you!
We need members of community to be ACTIVE participants in the redevelopment of Twin Forks Rising. You can help us in three ways:
TAKE ADVANTAGE of our Programs
We are building programs with YOU in mind. In addition to our food programs, we are focusing SKILLS BUILDING so that Ward 2 members can participate in the redevelopment of Twin Forks Rising.
We buy HOUSES.
We have programs to help homeowners fix up their houses. If the cost of maintaining your home is too costly, please reach out to us at 601.818.9275 so we can help you benefit from your family’s investment.
We buy LAND.
A lot of Ward 2 residents were profoundly affected by the hurricanes of 2013 and 2017. In some cases, residents have moved away and have not yet returned. If you are a former resident of the EAST JERUSALEM neighborhood, please email us at hello@tfrcdc.org.
